I'm going with Galarraga and the Tigers. The A's SUCK! with a capital s-u-c-k. And to go along with their sucktitude they are throwing a pitcher in Gonzalez that couldn't get out of the 4th inning in his last 2 starts. These are his lines:
DATE | OPP | RESULT | IP | H | R | ER | HR | BB | SO | GB | FB | TBF | #Pit | Dec. | Rel. | ERA |
06/24 | SF | L 3-6 | 3.2 | 10 | 6 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 6 | 6 | 9 | 23 | 83 | L(0-1) | -- | 8.03 |
05/18 | @TB | L 4-13 | 3.2 | 6 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 6 | 4 | 19 | 91 | -- | -- | 7.27 |
If that isn't a pile of shit...I don't know what is.
Now don't get me wrong. I know that Galarraga ain't no huckleberry. His pitching performances have been easier to forget than Farrah Fawcett passing away. Too soon? He even had a beautiful gem against this oakland squad where he only lasted 2/3 of an inning. That's pitching folks. However, in the battle of crap Galarraga comes out on top here.
Detroit has the better offense. Oakland is dead last in the major leagues in BA, OBP, SLG, and if you're dead last in all that, then yes, you are dead last in OPS as well. The team is CRAP.
To summarize, the tigers have the better offense with the better pitcher going tonight against a AAA at best call-up pitcher and the worst offense in the major leagues. Chalk this one up for the tigers.
Since i took a shot at Farrah...here's the best MJ joke i've heard so far:
When farrah fawcett arrived at heaven, god granted her 1 wish. she wished for all the children to be safe. so god killed michael jackson
Good luck everyone except those picking oakland
Safe,
RAZ
I can't say that I disagree with any part of your analysis Raz, but did you see the Det/Oak game last night? It was Detroit who looked like the worst offense in MLB, and Oakland hit Porcello (better than Galarraga) very well. I'm not saying to take Oakland, but I am saying that both offenses are very streaky, and both pitching staffs need help, especially Detroits awful bullpen (as long as Leyland refuses to yank guys who walk the bases full before they walk in the tying or winning runs). Maybe I'm just jaded from taking Detroit last night (and on two other occasions in recent weeks that they gave up big leads), but I would recommend staying clear of this game and parlaying the Yanks and Cleveland, or just taking the Yanks minus 1.5
ReplyDeleteNice insights Kaz, but if the worst offense in all of baseball has a great night then I figure by the law of averages they are going to have a pretty ugly one tonight. I'm sticking with Detroit and will most likely be crying by the final out of the ninth. Gambling rules!!
ReplyDeleteWell I took Fla last night against the worst team since the "bad news Bear's go to Japan" and won some good money. It was a close game yes,....but I am going to bet them again with the edge going to the home team against a horrible road team who is really there to catch some sun. Play Fla over Wash.
ReplyDeleteOther than that..I'm playing the Dodgers and -1.5 with the Yanks.

No love for the tigers Bama? The line for the Marlins has dropped about 20 pts since opening at -170. Not sure why that is except maybe they don't figure West keeps up his good starts. Something worth looking into.
ReplyDeleteI fear the rockies. Some strange voodoo, hari krishna, black magic shit going on with those guys. On paper they look like garbage but they keep on winning. I love billingsly, but the rocks scare the crap outta me right now.
Yanks rah rah Yanks. Hate runlines, but to get that price at anywhere near decent you have to do it.
Good luck
You know my in depth respect for your picks RAZ, but after watching the Tigers last night..I can not pull the trigger. Yankees are a streak team and there on a hot one. Agreed on the Rockies they are harder to beat than Micheal Jackson at a boy scout camp. I see that the line has gone down on the Fla game..which pisses me off...but I still think they are going to take it at home..they have not lost to Wash all year! I also like the cubs pick...they are doing well and playing good D. I did pick the Tigers by the way...but small...

Hey razor told u yesterday to go with Giants...i didnt go with the jays after thinking im on a 6 game win streak going wit the tigers and cards maybe
ReplyDeleteGood call on detroit razor....leaning towards boston florida mil and a bit to seattle as the the dogs after andys last sub par performance...
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris. I worry about a hangover with Boston after that Baltimore comeback and Bergesen has been pitching very well. I think Beckett is like -160 right now. Pretty expensive for a team that has to be feeling pretty low right now. I think the Brewers line is way too high. I understand Gallardo is good, but -220 vs. the mets seems a bit much. Although, it seems Wright is out tomorrow from early news. Going against the Yanks in NY is just asking for trouble. Especially since you aren't even getting a +200 line to do it. I'd stray away from it. I do like the Marlins though even forced to lay around -170.
